I moved to Lake Maggiore, in Ispra, where I would have my base for the following nights, after the first day dedicated to Maccagno, Luino and Laveno, I decided to go and discover Angera (find out the article here) and Arona :)
To start getting an idea of the places and views that I was able to admire, I invite you to watch the video below containing the most significant images of this experience.
How to reach Arona?
From Ispra, I took the bus that took me to Angera and from there the boat directly to Arona. There would also have been the option of continuing by bus to Sesto Calende and then taking the train but it would have been much longer both in geographical and temporal terms.
Travel ideas from a bench :)
I got off the boat and went to the first available bench to look at the map and understand how to move. As happens in many of my stages. But that day was different because I saw that interesting low-cost offers were possible for the transport of future trips and so I dedicated more than an hour to that :D
Arona lakeside
After the possible future travel planning, I walked along the Lungolago Caduti di Nassirya from where it was possible to see Angera and its castle in the distance.

Rocca Borromea: is it the right time to see it?
Then I wandered through the alleys even among its small uphill stretches to reach the castle area. When I reached the foot of the Parco della Rocca Borromea there was a sign indicating that in this period the opening was only on weekends (it was Wednesday) so I could not even reach the severed tower of the Arona fortress. I took the opportunity to continue my circular itinerary and return to the landing stage.
The journey continues…
Back with the boat in Angera, I took a look at the latest facets of the city and set off towards Ispra (find out the article here). the following day I would have dedicated some time to that village before returning to Milan as a base from where I would have successively reached Varese (find out the article here), Como (find out the article here) and Lecco (find out the article here).
Extra (not to be missed!) of Arona
After this brief overview of the stop in Arona, aren’t you curious to go beyond simple images to better understand the travel experience lived before this stage? No problem, here is a preview of the places mentioned above.
