Introduction

Now that the October international break has arrived, you can take advantage of a longer trip without losing any of your football passion. 🙂

Traveling to the Azores

The low-cost flight from Porto to Terceira Lajes had already been purchased. To make the most of the Wizz All You Can Fly package and book flights to Portugal closer to home, the best combination was a flight from Bologna to Bucharest, a flight from Bucharest to Lisbon, a bus to Porto, and an overnight stay there. There would also have been a direct flight from Rome to Porto with the package, but only on the day of Inter-Cremonese, so I would have had to forgo the match and the bus tickets I had already purchased.

Strolling around Porto

The morning after spending the night in Porto, the weather was great until I had to go to the airport, so it was great when it mattered 😎
Handy for walking around the city!

Island hopping in the Azores

Reaching Terceira Island on a low-cost flight from Porto, I had the opportunity to explore the most famous places, such as Praia da Vitória and Angra do Heroísmo. Next, I took a short flight to São Jorge Island, arriving in Velas and taking the ferry to São Roque do Pico on Pico Island. We enjoyed some intense walks to discover the island and its peak, the highest point in Portugal, the lakes, and the natural landscape before reaching Madalena for the ferry to Horta on Pico Island.
From there, after an almost epic journey, I reached Ponta Delgada on the island of São Miguel.

Connections? I don’t think so…

To return to land-based Europe, there was a direct flight from Ponta Delgada to Brussels Charleroi. Being the last flight of the season (and it later emerged that it was likely Ryanair’s last ever), the price was minimal, and the next day, Inter’s European away match in Brussels against Union Saint-Gilloise at Anderlecht’s stadium was scheduled.
Connections? I don’t think so… 😎
After the match, a bus to Charleroi Airport and a low-cost flight to Treviso.

The journey continues…

Next trip is “TIRANA TO PHOTOGRAPH: a short trip to discover the Albanian capital” (find out the article here).
