In this article I’ll tell you about the Heraklion stop during the journey to discover Greece and Turkey both with and without a cruise.

How to reach Heraklion?
After exploring the island of Aegina (Αίγινα) (find out the article here) and returning by ferry to Piraeus to take the train “From Athens to Kalambaka with Hellenic Train” (find out the article here), I reached Kalambaka (Καλαμπάκα) (find out the article here), the closest city to support the visit of the Meteora Monasteries (find out the article here). Subsequently I moved “From Kalambaka to Heraklion by bus and ferry” (find out the article here) to reach the island of Crete.
Heraklion in Venetian style
As soon as I arrived at the port of Heraklion, I could immediately see the Venetian Fortress.
Afterwards I managed to walk a part of the itinerary with the Venetian Walls (Ενετικά Τείχη Ηρακλείου) at my side.
Four steps in the center
In the city I snuck into the various alleys and started the series of photographs from the Cathedral of San Mena (Ιερός Ναός Αγίου Μηνά). Continuing in the area of the Central Market (Κεντρική Αγορά), I caught my eye towards the Morosini Fountain (Κρήνη Μοροζίνι), the Basilica of San Marco (Βασιλική Αγίου Μάρκ ου) and the Venetian Loggia (Ενετική Λότζια). A little further on I reached the Church of San Tito (Ι.Ν. Ἁγίου Τίτου).
