After the discovery of Taranto (find out the article here), the following day, I decided to go and see Lecce and Brindisi.
To start getting an idea of the places and views that I was able to admire, I invite you to watch the video below containing the most significant images of this experience.
How to reach Lecce?
From Taranto I took the train towards Brindisi where I made the change and then took the one for the first destination of the day.
First steps in the city
Leaving the station I continued along the road in front of me until I reached the area of the University of Salento. A few steps forward and then back and I found myself in Piazzetta Giosuè Carducci with its Church of San Francesco della Scarpa.

Walking through the characteristic alleys full of history of the city, I found myself (not by chance!) In front of the Porta San Biagio
which, after crossing it, took me to Piazza d’Italia (square).
Among the alleys of the city
Returning from the door, I headed towards the city center. Always walking along the characteristic alleys, I first crossed the Greek Orthodox Church of San Nicola on my left and then, on the right, the Church of Sant’Antonio della Piazza and, in front of me, the Church of Santa Chiara. Once there, I could not “cross” the church until I reached one of the major tourist attractions in the city: the Roman Theater.
Center of Lecce
At this point I was ready to head to the most central area of the city where I would have my work cut out with photos and videos. Why? The answer is simple: a lot of monuments and works to be included in the luggage of memories of this trip. It starts with the Roman Amphitheater of Lecce, an important historical landmark of the city,
and then continues towards Piazza Sant’Oronzo where the Ex Church of San Marco, the Palazzo del Sedile and, precisely, the column of Sant’Oronzo are located.
Castle and Cathedral of Lecce
Leaving the square behind me, I headed towards the Carlo V Castle. Short stop and then I resumed the walk towards another historical landmark of the city that I had not yet met: the Cathedral of Maria Santissima Assunta and San Oronzo.
I remember that I had a hard time finding the entrance to Piazza Duomo quickly :D

This discovery was made daily because then, after having also seen Brindisi (find out the article here), in the evening, I returned to Taranto again to take the night bus that would take me back to northern Italy.
After this trip, the next one would leave a few days later, with the discovery of 15 places in 5 days (read the article here).
