Landed at Manchester airport with a low-cost flight from Italy, the first thing that allowed me to understand that I had arrived correctly in England was the weather! When did I find out? Both looking out of the window at the arrival and raising my head upwards as I descended the ladder of the plane. The second, the time zone (one hour less than in Italy) while I was looking for the timetable of the train that would take me to the center of Manchester on the boards. Arriving in the city, on my way to the hostel, I immediately learned why it is called an industrial city.

Why does this shot of Manchester City Hall indicate the start of the journey?
Placing the luggage in the accommodation, I decided to lie down and rest for a few minutes. As the weather was improving, the best idea was to go for a ride downtown and take advantage of the benevolent weather to capture some shots of the city. Taking my camera, I immediately headed to the city hall area. There, I captured this moment with a vertical shot, a useful moment to post on social media as soon as possible.
Why? This shot summarizes the beginning of the journey: the clock is the sign that it was time for this experience and, the English flag, the place.
Manchester between art and football
Subsequently, I headed to the Cathedral where, nearby, there is also the football museum. It goes without saying that Manchester is also (or above all) known worldwide for its football. Precisely for this reason, I decided to immediately take a walk in the city. In fact, the following day, in the morning, I would have visited the Old Trafford stadium (home of Manchester United)
and, in the afternoon, visit the Etihad Stadium (home of Manchester City).
It was better to take advantage of being there at that moment and in that weather conditions :)
Castlefield: the industrial soul of the city
Could not miss (and I haven’t forgotten) the view of the area that most respects the industrial soul of the city: Castlefield.
I remember that it had started to rain a little but I managed not to miss this symbolic place because it was near the accommodation. In addition to the (artificial) canals, what recalls the industrial soul of the area are the buildings built with bricks of a red color that remains imprinted in the mind and steel used for the construction of the various bridges present.
