In this article I’ll tell you about the stop in Newcastle during the journey to discover England, Wales and Andorra.
To start getting an idea of the places and views that I was able to admire, I invite you to watch the video below containing the most significant images of this experience.
How to get to Newcastle?
After starting the journey with stops in Bristol (find out the article here), Swansea (find out the article here), Cardiff (find out the article here) and Leeds (find out the article here) and York (find out the article here), I decided to use the train to reach the next destination. There was also the possibility of taking the bus here but both for timetables and costs I preferred to opt for another choice.
First steps in the city
After leaving the city train station, the first two places of interest that I decided to photograph/film were the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas and the Castle (Newcastle Castle).
Chasing bridges
At this point, heading towards the Tyne, that is the river that crosses the city and also gives part of the name of the latter (upon Tyne), I had the opportunity to admire several bridges: the Swing Bridge, the Tyne Bridge and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
The latter, as you can see from the following photo, is a modern bridge right over the River Tyne, with separate lanes for pedestrians and cyclists. Obviously, when I decided to cross it, I paid a lot of attention not to walk in the bike lane 😃
Just outside the center of Newcastle
Heading towards the city’s airport (reached, for a change, on foot!) I crossed the St. James Park area, the city’s football stadium, Leazes Park Lake and Nuns Moor park (Central).
Final destination of the trip: Barcelona
The final destination of this trip is Barcelona, more precisely the Camp Nou, to attend the (already decisive?) match of the Champions League group 🙂
