After a long bus ride, I reached Warsaw, the capital of Poland.
Why long journey? I left by bus on January 1st (2020) at 11 am towards Vienna where I arrived in the early evening, just before 8 pm. I remember that, despite it being the first day of the year, at the bus station in the Austrian capital it was full of people traveling. I had to wait about 2 hours for the next bus and then, with my luggage, I took a seat in the waiting room.
At 9:40 pm I left with the bus towards Poland where I would arrive in the capital the following morning, shortly after 7 am.

Healthy walk for a good start to the year
What to do since the next bus of the journey would be at 1 pm and it was only after 7 am? Luggage at the depot (luckily the machines accepted credit cards and not just zlotys) at the bus station, mobile phone in hand with the map and brisk walking.
Why brisk walking? The central area of the city is between 4 and 6 km from the bus stop where I was, Warsaw Zachodnia. But it was not a problem because the temperatures were starting to be lower than those left in Italy. Besides, it was morning (more or less early) and, at the beginning, therefore, walking quickly also helped me to warm up :)
But, was I or wasn’t I already in Warsaw?
As you could see in the video with the roundup of photos, there weren’t many people strolling around at that time. It’s not that I asked to block the city for my arrival in having to photograph and resume it but there were just no people :D
I had already been there once in Warsaw but it was in the summer (in August, with the streets full of people). Now, after walking the long straight from the bus stop to the city, I turned left and started another straight. I remember that at one point there was also a pedestrian area. Along this straight I realized that I felt like I had never been to this city. Sometimes, the places, seen in different seasons and with more or less crowds, change completely.
Glimpses of Warsaw to photograph (and film)
I picked up the reflex and started with photographs and filming. I started by photographing the monument dedicated to Nicolaus Copernicus (Pomnik Mikołaja Kopernika) located in front of the Staszic palace (Pałac Staszica). Then, walking around, I saw the possibility of some shots also for the church of the Holy Cross (Kościół Świętego Krzyża). Continuing the walk, on my right, I could see the Czetwertyńskich-Uruskich palace (Pałac Czetwertyńskich-Uruskich) and, a little further on, the presidential palace (Pałac Prezydencki). Being still the Christmas season, during the walk, I came across several decorations and Christmas creations.
The place of confirmation
At the end of this long straight, I realized I’ve been here before. What made me understand? The arrival in the castle square, symbol of the old town of Warsaw (Stare Miasto – Plac Zamkowy).

Probably it’s one of the places that all travelers/tourists/excursionist remember from their visit to this city.
Then there is a photo of the monument in honor of the child soldiers of World War II (Mały Powstaniec – Pomnik Małego Powstańca).

At this point, since I still had some time, I decided to walk towards the bus station through a new route. Fortunately, at some point, I realized that I had taken the wrong path otherwise who knows what would have happened. How did I notice it? In the distance (of kilometers), I realized that the distance from the bus terminal was less and less visible to the human eye :D
The horizon helped me to continue the journey as expected.
The bags are also ready for Estonia
After a long walk that lasted all morning (I didn’t have an odometer but I certainly traveled more than 10 km) I returned to the luggage storage where I recovered them waiting for the bus to leave, and with it the journey, towards Estonia (find out the article here).
